Presentation on dog fighting & other animal crimes

The Alliance Tackling Animal Crimes is sponsoring a presentation by Steve Brownstein concerning dog fighting, animal cruelty and what can be done to combat these crimes. Steve Brownstein is a sergeant on the Chicago Police Department who is the recipient of many awards including the 2006 ASPCA Law Enforcement Officer of the Year.

Admission is free. Food and beverages optional. Reservations are required and can be made by emailing: info@atacchicago.org.

Did you know that when animal crimes aren’t responded to by the police, the criminals don’t face prosecution? Or that animal abusers are 5 times more likely to also commit violent crimes against people? Anne Arundel County Arrest

Two people were arrested in an affluent Maryland community last week, in what appears to be a text book case of how dog fighting cases should be handled.  Neighbors heard dogs growling and people cheering and notified the police. Read the rest »
