Take Action
The only way to address the issues of dog fighting and animal abuse it to demand a law enforcement response. However, calling “911″ is not enough. If you or someone you know ever reports a crime involving an animal which is not handled appropriately by your local law enforcement agency demand to know why.
Take your complaint as high as you can go in that particular organization and make it clear to the policy makers that you will not accept any less in the way of investigation than domestic violence groups demand for allegations of domestic abuse. Do what MADD did for drunk driving and hold police accountable for their actions or inactions when it comes to responding to complaints about dog fighting and animal abuse.
Likewise, do not support any humane organizations that conduct their own investigations. All these organizations do is give a pass to the police by giving the impression that “something is being done.” If fact, send an e-mail to your elected officials letting them know that you demand a consistent, nationwide law enforcement response to dog fighting. We can have the best laws on the books, but until the police investigate and arrest someone those laws are meaningless.
